The whole order, from first to last
Drawing a name decides who starts. Drawing a random order decides everything that follows: who goes first, second, and who goes last. The site shuffles the whole list in one go, and every possible order has exactly the same chance of coming up.
One spot at a time, for the suspense
In class, finding out right away that you’re going last can be a relief… or an hour of nerves. With the option to reveal one spot at a time, the whole order is drawn at once but revealed spot by spot: you press “Next spot” when the first person is done. Nothing can change along the way, since the draw is made at the very start.
The most common uses
- Presentations and oral exams: the speaking order for a class, a competition or a group interview.
- Board games: who goes first, when the rules say “the youngest player” and everyone is the same age.
- Karaoke and open mic: the order of the singers, with no favoritism.
- Opening gifts: on Christmas morning, draw the order for opening presents to avoid a free-for-all around the tree; with one spot at a time, the suspense lasts until the last package.
- Meetings: the order for the round of updates, so it’s not always the same people speaking first.
A draw nobody can argue with
The shuffle uses the browser’s secure random generator. For an order nobody will dispute, make the draw in front of everyone, with the screen facing the group, then send the result on WhatsApp so everyone has a copy. Our guide to fair random draws covers the small rules that prevent any “it’s rigged!”.
Need something else?
For just one or two names, the random name picker is quicker. To make groups rather than an order, use the random team generator.
